Yak wool is the finest wool we offer. It does not scratch, is skin-friendly, cuddly and is very well tolerated by many allergy sufferers. Our wool (approx. 17 μm) is obtained from the fine undercoat of Mongolian yaks. So far, this wool is still very exclusive, but is just on the rise due to its special properties.

Unsere Yakwollsocken bestehen aus 90% mongolischer Yakwolle und 10% Kunstfaser (Elasthan). Die Größen der Socken sind unisex und orientieren sich an den Schuhgrößen.

Yak wool is difficult to dye. Therefore, yak wool products are available only in the beautiful natural colors of the yaks - light gray and dark brown.Durability & Care
The finer the wool and the stronger the friction,
the faster holes will appear. Yak wool is the finest of our wool types and therefore the most sensitive to friction. Our yak wool socks are designed with comfort and warm feet in mind. They should be worn primarily at home, preferably on the couch or as night socks. Wearing them in shoes will cause them to wear through quickly.Yak wool socks are the perfect bed and sofa socks. If the socks are to be worn regularly in shoes, we recommend our Sheep wool socks.
How are our products produced?
The entire value chain is located in Mongolia. We have lived in Mongolia for a long time and therefore know our producers personally. We buy the finished products directly on site and import them ourselves. Therefore, there are no middlemen and a large part of the revenue flows directly into Mongolia. Due to the short value chain, we can tell you exactly where the wool comes from:
Yak shearing
Yaks live outside all year round and can move freely with their herd. They are sheared only once a year in June for wool production. The nomads' lives revolve around their livestock, as it represents their livelihood, their capital and also their retirement provision. After shearing, the wool is sorted by color and fineness and brought to production in sacks by local wool merchants. The price is based on the fineness and purity of the hair.
Spinning and washing
The wool travels by trains and cars from the provinces to the capital of Mongolia, Ulan-Bator. Our products are produced there by family businesses with less than 50 employees. They buy the wool, wash, dry, comb and spin it. Compared to many other countries, Mongolia is not a "low-wage country". For this reason, mainly high-quality textiles are exported here.
