What makes our wool so special?

Wool balances temperature, warms and does not smell. Because of these unique properties, wool products are making a comeback. But what is the difference between the wool of our fuzzy animals?

Camel wool

Once a year, the camels in Mongolia are shorn. Finer and warmer than sheep's wool, in natural shades of beige and brown - undyed wool from camels from the deserts of Mongolia.

Sheep wool

The fibers are stronger and therefore more robust than camel and yak wool. In addition, sheep's wool can be dyed - the perfect base material for our socks.

From a student project to a growing business
Our story

Steppenstrolch began as a student project. On his way home from Mongolia, Malte packed a backpack full of socks. From the first few pairs of camel wool socks, a business has grown over the years, which Malte founded with his friends Lennart and Markus in 2020. However, several obstacles had to be overcome along the way...

How it all began...

From an idea to the first order

Follow our journey

Steppenstrolch started as a student project. On his way back from staying abroad in Mongolia, Malte brings a backpack full of socks with him. Camel wool has kept him warm during the cold Mongolian winter, and his family and friends are just as excited about these extraordinary socks.

Over a drink on the town hall square in Aachen, the idea of founding a company was born, and that's when things really took off.

How it all began...
