Our wool products come from one of the largest landlocked countries with extreme climatic conditions - Mongolia. So as soon as we had made the plan to visit camel nomads in the Gobi B biosphere reserve as well as our producers in Ulaanbaatar, the extent of the journey was clear. Around 4,000 kilometres lay ahead of us, right across the west of Mongolia. Our aim was to visit the people and animals who make our clothing for babys and children from camel wool To give you a first impression of the journey, we open the scans from my analogue camera as well as the picture gallery from our mobile phones.
The initial plan was that I wanted to take new pictures for postcards and calendars and Malte needed to talk to our producers about new designs and resizing. We informed the circle of friends and all employees about the plans for a trip to Mongolia in the spring and suddenly the group grew to a dozen. Divided between two UAZ vans and under the trusted responsibility of our drivers and friends Namba and Saikhnaa, we set off from Ulaanbaatar. Destination number 1 was the Gobi B biosphere reserve, where Takhi horses have been reintroduced since the 1990s.
There were also visits to our producers before and after the trip. The fact that Marta, our designer and expert in textile technology, was on board for the trip was a big plus.
In future blog articles you will get detailed stories from the steppe, desert and snow-covered expanses.
