Scope of Application
This statement applies to the website and online store at steppenstrolch.de, including all subpages, the ordering and payment process, and the customer account.
This statement does not apply to: our business customer store at b2b.steppenstrolch.de, our presence on other third-party platforms, or our social media profiles.
What You Can Do in Our Store
On steppenstrolch.de, you can:
- View our selection of Mongolian wool products—duvets, pillows, and clothing;
- Add products to your shopping cart and place an order;
- Select a payment method and make the payment;
- create a customer account and view orders and invoices there;
- to request a return or exchange;
- to find our stores and retailers near you;
- contact us by email, phone, or through the contact form.
In-Store Service
Keyboard Controls
Our store can be used without a mouse. Use the Tab key to move forward and Shift + Tab to move backward. Press Enter or the Spacebar to activate buttons and links. At the top of each page, there is a skip link that skips the navigation.
Screen reader
Headings, form fields, buttons, and product images are labeled so that they can be read aloud. We tested this using NVDA with Firefox and VoiceOver with Safari.
Zoom and Text Size
The pages can be zoomed in to 200% without losing any content or causing elements to overlap. Any font size increase set in the browser settings is also applied.
Colors and Contrasts
Text and controls stand out clearly against the background. The minimum contrast ratio for text is 4.5:1. Important information is never conveyed by color alone.
Forms and Error Messages
Required fields are marked. If an entry is incorrect, we'll indicate in the text which field is affected and what to do. There is no time limit for completing the form.
Language
The content on our website is available in German and English. We explain technical terms when they cannot be avoided, or provide links to pages that offer a more detailed explanation.
Accessibility Status
We adhere to the requirements of the EN 301 549 standard and, consequently, to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. The legal basis for this is the Act on Strengthening Accessibility (BFSG) and the Ordinance on Strengthening Accessibility (BFSGV).
In our assessment, the store is largely compliant: The areas listed under point 5 do not yet fully meet the requirements.
This assessment is based on a self-evaluation conducted by the company's own employees.
Known Limitations
The following areas are not yet accessible. We are being transparent about them and are working to address them:
- The map for finding retailers and stores has limited functionality when used with a keyboard and screen reader. You can find a list of all addresses and opening hours under Retail Locations.
- Some videos and animations still play automatically, and a reduced-motion setting in the system does not reliably apply to all website elements to prevent the animation from playing.
- Some pages contain incomplete or incorrect translations.
- Older product images and blog posts still have no alternative text or incomplete alternative text.
- The payment pages of our payment service providers (PayPal, Stripe) are provided by these providers; we have no influence over their design. If you are unable to proceed there, we will accept your order by phone or via email .
